The BackYard collective, planning their XL rooftop sessions in August featuring artists such as Sonja Moonear, Recondite and Claptone just to name a few,gave us a tour guide of their hometown, Malmö
1. What’s to do in the summer when everyone’s gone?
Don’t worry. Malmö is one of Scandinavia’s best summer cities. Rent a city bike – you can literally bike all over city. It will take you just 15 minutes to get from the city center to the beach. Go to the beach, do yoga in one of the city’s many parks, go shopping at Emporia , explore the cities culinary scene from the Michelin star restaurants to very affordable street food from all over the world.
2. What’s the collective’s HQ when it comes to drinks?
For artisan cocktails, beers and all the small cool restaurants head for the Möllevången area. For a great view over the bridge and Copenhagen go to one of the Skybars in the harbour – Clarion Malmö Live (25th floor) or Story Hotel (14th floor)
3. Where can you find the best records in town?
Rundgång records run by the most friendly punk rocker Dennis ha s everything vinyl from indie pop to techno and deep house including a great selection of records by local labels and artists.
4. What can you do for a first date?
Rent a pedal boat for two (€25 / 2 hours) and go explore Malmö canals. Bring a pic-nic basket.
5. Where can you lose your dignity?
One of Malmö’s infamous underground clubs with rave’s going on until 10 AM. Keep your eyes and ears open for clues and directions.
6. A good spot to go for a sandwich at 5AM?
Malmö has the best falafel in the Nordics. Check out places like Jalla Jalla along the Berggatan.
7. A good address for brunch?
Laziza has an excellent Lebanese brunch. For an even more deluxe experience go for an Afternoon Tea at Michelin star Bloom in The Park
8. The best plan to chill on a Sunday?
