Hard Life caught up with Dutch DJ and Co-Owner of Karton Music Group, Pelle, ahead of Pragmatik’s first birthday.

Pelle is to perform alongside Arapu, Harry McCanna, Locïc, Salome Calvino and Alex Baciu in the 16-hour birthday extravaganza taking place this Sunday at The Brewhouse.

We asked Pelle what records were close to him at the moment, and perhaps what we could expect to hear on Sunday. Here is what he had to say:

(If you’ve got headphones in, you’re in for a treat).

“Currently loving this track a lot. A truly floating outer-space piece of work. This is a record I could play at home and close my eyes to for the entire length of it. A great example of techno music that’s not only suited to make people dance.”

“I finally managed to get a good copy of this one recently after it’s been sitting in my want-list for way too long. This track is a great piece of early techno. It came out in 1997 on Svek, which happens to be a label that released countless amazing timeless tracks between 1996 and 2003.”

“This one rarely leaves my bag. I enjoy a good drummy tool and this is the perfect example. One of my favorites from Perlon and Cabanne

“For me the best example of what minimal should be. So simple, but you just can’t resist nodding your head to this. Mad respect for Daniel Bell. Shame to the people on Discogs that are pricing this one through the roof”

“This whole record is great. The groove on every track of this EP is just spot-on. The label itself is run by Swag, and they probably produced this EP too. You will definitely hear this in my set at Pragmatik on the 12th of February.”

With the selection of tracks hand-picked by Pelle, we’re really looking forward to Sunday’s party.

This is one not to be missed.
