Influenced initially by the tough house rhythms of New York, Jonas Kopp soon widened his palette with the pioneers of Detroit and Chicago also informing his style : a comfortable place straddling House and Techno. 2006 marked his official debut release, a rousing EP on Pfirter’s MindTrip Music, and from that point, he has become one of the most versatile and recognised multifaceted performers in the underground scene, combining dizzying 3-deck genre hopping DJing with a more techno-orientated live show. I would like to be a cat. I love my cat and her energy. Freedom and wisdom are the strongest characteristics of Cats and I love that. Plus they’re the cleanest animal ever.

All my ambient records without order or distinction.

I would prefer to see Jeff Mills, alive of course!
 

Do you have any ritual before stepping onto the stage?

Just a little breath exercise to harmonise myself, and I also stretch my arms as I am very physical when I’m djing

A guilty passion?

It’s not a passion, but I still like eating meat and sometimes I feel guilty.

I play all what I can and want, that’s my passion!

Drums / Drum machine.
 

If you had to play or sample the soundtrack of a movie?

The old movie “Scanners”. It has fantastic, vintage electronic compositions and FX’s.

 

An unusual place where you dream to play?

Somewhere in nature, in the mountains or at the pyramids of Egypt.
 

A track that you wish to produce (and why)?

A track that brings you to a different state of consciousness in a natural way, that’s my goal nowadays. I’m learning and training to compose my music from inner states of mind (elevated ones).
 

A record you regret not to have?

I do but I can’t even remember the name!
 

A « Hard Life » anecdote you could share with us?

I’ve been traveling between Europe and Argentina every 2 months because my daughter still living in Buenos Aires. It’s hard to keep this living structure, it requires a lot of energy, patience and money.
