“From House Monsters to Jazz Ninjas”

We were very much aware of Max Graef‘s jazz influences when we listened to his Rivers of the Red Planet album last year. But the young German producer still comes across as a successful chilled house musician, using synths arpeggios very accurately on Pedro or demonstrating his sampling skills on Sensation. Long story short, still tunes you would play on a rooftop for a summer afternoon set. Yet this new release is a genuine musical surprise. Yeah, he uses the same synths again, but the change of pace and the jazz and latin influence on Magic Johnson are a much appreciated fresh touch. Glenn Astro‘s signature distorted sounds is also a great asset. A great addition to Ninja Tunes impressive catalogue.
