The blue sky, the Sun and some crazy good music… All this while sipping a bier specially crafted for this moment… Is that a dream?! Nah, Field Day 2016 is coming in June, for its 10th anniversary!

Be ready party folks ! On June 11-12, Field Day is coming to invade the Victoria Park lawn, for the tenth year in a row. It all began in August 2007 – a passionate team builds up a festival as if it was preparing a village fete: musicians, a frolic atmosphere, and a multitude of attractions… except that we are in the 21st century, and the duo Justice, among others, was chosen for mastering the party.

Field Day looks like a countryside celebration at the heart of East London. Indeed, keeping the general picture of easy fun allows them to erect sack race, tug of war and egg and spoon races to the rank of something cool. And what is now called the Village Mentality Stage holds much promises for this 10th Edition.

The 2016 Games explore the theme of aging (!!) “Maybe you fancy some mid life crisis Pogoing or are up for some Buggy Wars. As ever there will be lovely prizes big and small to be had with the cherry on the cake being the perennial eating competition.” Now we know why it is always sold out. But Field Day is also a musical magnificent experience ! There is so many great artists performing that I would need two more articles to mention all of them. But let’s try…

Bicep (live), The Black Madonna and her sublime and dynamic vinyl sets, which span from disco to techno, Daphni – aka Caribou, DJ Koze, Jackmaster b2b Gerd JansonTale of Us will offer a treat with their flying grooves… Four Tet, Floating PointsMotor City Drum Ensemble – and so on!

It is easy to imagine being carried away by the music, the atmosphere becoming more and more relaxed as the temperature soars ever upward. To quench your thirst, the creative minds have considered everything. Field Day thus collaborates with the guys of the Five Points to design and brew an exclusive limited edition beer, the ‘Extra Pale Ale’. Can’t wait to see you there !
